The UK State Aid Law Association (UKSALA), in association with Slaughter and May, would like to
invite you to an evening seminar on State aid in the financial sector. The lecture will be followed by
drinks and canapés.
Our aim is to look at both the experience of the UK in handling bank restructuring cases in the financial
crisis, and at the possible future role of public funding in the financial sector in the form of State aid to
development banks. Our experienced speakers will cover the following topics:
• Background and legal context for the restructuring of banks in the financial crisis and overview over
the legal framework for development banks
• Responding to businesses in crisis: the UK experience of handling negotiations with the European
Commission in bank restructuring cases
• Development banks: emerging Commission policy on State aid to development banks in the context
