BIS call for evidence on State aid strand of the Review of the Balance of Competences

As many UKSALA members will know, the Coalition Government in the UK is conducting a “balance of competences” review over the entire field of EU law: the purpose of the review is to analyse in depth how the EU’s competences work in practice.

This review has now reached the area of competition policy, including State aid: see the review programme available at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/review-of-uk-and-eu-balance-of-competences-call-for-evidence-on-competition-and-consumer-policy: pages 11 to 13 of the review document contain a short summary of the present position in relation to State aid.

BIS is calling for evidence on the present balance of competences to be submitted by 13 January 2014 to balanceofcompetences@bis.gsi.gov.uk.

UKSALA will be responding to this call for evidence: a number of members of the steering committee have been invited to attend a meeting with BIS on 12 November.  But any member with thoughts on the current balance of competences should either comment on this blog or e-mail gperetz@monckton.com.
