An update to my post of 26 March on the draft Regional Aid Guidelines. The University of Strathclyde Briefing paper on the draft has recently been revised to include new data as well as reference to the debate in the European Parliament on 16 April. In particular, it appears that the new Guidelines will be adopted significantly later than planned, with Commissioner Alumnia indicating that the final proposal may be presented to the College of Commissioners in early June, and suggesting that the existing Guidelines may be extended if the new Guidelines have not been adopted by the end of this year.
